Statoil Stjørdal NOBS
A functional work environment onshore to run operations offshore
The social area
One of several social areas adjacent to a coffee station.
The light cone to the right in the image distributes sunlight from an opening in the roof and down through all of the floors in the building. All the social zones are in slightly different colour schemes, equipped with various types of furniture and located in bright spacious surroundings shielded from the working areas. Perfectly suited as meeting points for up to 60 people.
Typical interior in one of the many social zones.
It’s very easy to collaborate with other locations here, which is great, as there is no need to travel!

Break/socializing area, adjacent to meeting centre. The blue wall to the right is a photograph of a rock structure projected onto a wooden board – a medium that expresses Statoil’s corporate identity. Behind this wall is the auditorium. The meeting centre is located on level 1 and is commonly used for meetings with external participants and staff training.
The area has a mixture of low and high chairs, and is well suited for resting purposes, with or without food and drink.
The auditorium
The auditorium can accommodate over 100 people and includes a lectern with fully integrated technology. The slightly rising amphitheatre has four levels and is carpeted for acoustic treatment.
Open plan
Open work and meeting point with display opportunity. Used by departments for brief morning meetings and interaction between people in various departments. Spaciousness allows for many participants.
Seated social zone in another colour scheme.
High-back sofa in open environment. The padded back muffles external noise or disruptive sound from conversations within the furniture group. Used when concentration is needed, i.e. for the reading of documents, phone calls or discussions between colleagues.
Everyone is seated in open surroundings throughout the new building. Placement is based on a thorough analysis of workflow and department-related compounds. The workspaces are conventional in design. Thus no furniture has to be moved around during any kind of interaction.
Glass walkway running through the two wings of the new building. Main circulation is via footbridges, stairways and elevators, all of which are located in this area. This allows pedestrian traffic to pass through the corridor without disturbing the work areas.
