Prosjektbeskrivelse

Statnett’s public mission is to develop the next generation’s power grid, a task requiring innovative interaction, modern technology and a prudent application of resources; its old premises in Husebybakken were inappropriate for these requirements.

In collaboration with Zinc AS, IARK has created a new and modern work place where Statnett’s needs and specifications are met; we’ve developed an interior, which caters for a high level of extensive use, as well as flexibility; maintaining a balance between work procedures and innovation. With an open plan and easy access linking departments, first-rate communication and interaction is ensured. Being responsible for the development, construction and operation of Norway’s main power lines, Statnett has a strong and clear identity; the major goal was to reflect this within the interiors. Using pictures and glass filming, we have clearly incorporated Statnett’s identity into the project. The result is efficient workspaces integrated into an open plan, with a striking and distinct Statnett signature.

Light and Warmth

As a division between the various group-sized solutions, quiet rooms, archive shelves and sofa groups have been implemented. This not only leads to a better overview of close associates, but also acts as soundproofing to dampen out any disruptive interference. Since the initial phase, Statnett has emphasized its desire for vibrant colours throughout the interiors, especially in the workspace areas. This is clearly visible with regard to the choice of furniture and storage cabinets that occupy these parts of the premises; all characterized by light and warmth.

Floor Squares by Internal Staircase

An internal staircase was built into the centre of the building with so called “floor squares” arranged alongside, on each and every level. The square seen in the photograph above is well shielded from the workspace areas and is part of the main communication lines within the building.

A Warm Core with identity

There are warm and welcoming colours throughout the furniture and kitchen interiors; within the core of the building employees can find light and warmth, an important direction in terms of identity, right from the outset of the project.

Nature Meets Construction

In addition to light and warmth, “nature meets construction” was another fundamental idea relating to the project’s identity, a factor expressed by the bold colours portrayed throughout the interiors. The reception is an important first impression zone; therefore this area showcases both the technical and professional aspects of Statnett. The colour schemes here are clear and clean-cut; incorporating integrated digital installations that emphasize Statnett’s role in the energy market.

Variety of Sitting Groups

The digital displays continue throughout the area towards the canteen where the materials gradually change from stone to wood, and cool to warmer colours in leather and green fabrics. The canteen is furnished with a variety of sitting groups in the shape of personalized compartments, benches and traditional tables and chairs. This provides a diverse and exciting luncheon/dining area.

Stylized power Lines

The use of frosted filming on meeting room glass walls help to emphasize Statnett’s identity; the company’s plans, builds and operation of power lines. Therefore numerous illustrated designs on the window filming represent a stylized version of power lines.

Consolidating Nature

Social zone adjacent to the meeting centre. The furniture colour schemes and interior details outside the meeting room are an extension of the colours within the canteen; reflecting all the ideas and choices made there. At level one people can choose to go directly into the canteen or down the stairs to the meeting centre; therefore the idea of consolidating nature alongside wooden floors and shades of green became a natural choice. The area is used as a waiting zone for socializing and breaks between meetings.

In an effort to stamp Statnett’s identity firmly on the premises, the client’s own image bank was frequently used. Therefore absorbing Statnett’s plans, builds, operations and maintenance of the central power grid in Norway, the images depicted in most of the photographs are of engineering work carried out among natural surroundings and scenic locations.
