From fixed workstations to activity based solutions

Prosjektdetaljer
Prosjektbeskrivelse

When Posten Norge, the Norwegian Postal Service, was about to renew their lease at Posthuset, they contacted IARK to assist with interior services and to facilitate user processes. The headquarter in Oslo accomodates 800 employees and has been renovated in its entirety, while also reducing its area from seven to five floors. After a thorough analysis, interviews, and workshops, IARK participated in analysing the material. The new space took shape in close collaboration with Posten Norge.

The resulting space is created around activity based spaces, where employees have the liberty to chose their desk depending on the tasks of the day. All departments belong to a home base where employees can find their nearest colleagues. Beyond that, seating is free - for example in the social zone for informal meetings, in the library for concentrated work, or the team table for interactive tasks. While there isn’t one height-adjustable desk for every employee, the space is designed to offer a place for everyone to get their work done.
Taking care of our environment is a very high priority at Posten Norge, and the company takes responsibilty to reduce its impact on their surroundings. Some of their efforts are reusing 90% of their furniture, reducing the space they occupy, and recycling waste. In addition, the company emphasizes creating a good working environment in all their organizational and business development.
