Prosjektbeskrivelse

Tradition, vital local company, continuing cultural legacy, solidity, maritime history, worldwide activities. These are some of the characteristics IARK adopted when we began developing a design concept for Farstad Shipping’s new premises at Skansekaia in Ålesund. Farstad shipping is one of the world’s leading shipping companies with 40 years experience in offshore service ships for the international oil and gas industry. A thorough user process identified planning needs and gave a clear structure for the interior design work. Materials and colour choices reflect the company’s distinctive character: Cordage, iron, metals, timber and ocean hues are used in detailing, in addition to the signal “Farstad red”. Canteen, meeting centre and common facilities are located at ground floor level, while representative areas are placed on level 4. Work areas on levels 2 and 3 are open plan, and connected by a large open atrium.
