IARK builds sustainable house

IARK has had a leading role in the design and building of one of Norway’s most energy-efficient and sustainable dwellings. The house which is located in Asker has roof-mounted solar panels - these produce sufficient electricity for the building’s own needs and the surplus can be sold to the local power supplier Hafslund Nett. Heating and hot water are provided by heat pumps from both geothermal energy and the solar panels. The building has large window areas which give plenty of daylight and contact with the surrounding nature, while preserving both acoustic and indoor air qualities. Internal surfaces are of untreated timber which, with time, will gradually acquire a beautiful patina.
