Project Description

Throuhgout autumn 2017 the tenants of Media City Bergen are moving into Lars Hillesgate 30. A long standing dream is about to become a reality - a media house to get all the biggest players in the publishing and TV industry under one roof. IARK has contributed to the dream during all stages, from winning the competition together with MAD Arkitekter in 2012, to becoming the representatives for the landlords and several tenants of the building.

NRK
In 2014 work commenced to adapt the premises for NRK Hordaland, the regional TV-station. NRK took advantage of the moving process to completely re-evaluate their work process organization. Flexibility, co-use, shortfall, and free seating were goals of the transition. Divide and share was their mantra throughout the process, which says a lot about how NRK perceives itself - both internally, when meeting other publishing houses, and with the wider public. It was always a leading factor for NRK Hordaland to communicate a strong identity as a friendly, approachable, playful, innovative, open, and unceremonious organization through their interior concept. Welcome home to NRK!

Bergens Tidende
2014 was the starting point for a long and comprehensive journey towards the move to the new premises in autumn 2017. The greater goal and vision of BT was to create a work environment that is organized around the day to day life of the publishing world of tomorrow. Work processes, flexibility, and mobility have been key concepts in the development of the interior.

Right by the internal stairs on level 3 you can look down towards the social zone on the floor below through a generous opening in the ceiling. This contributes to creating visual contact between the floors, as it is possible to hear the sound of what happens on the floor below.
